Kids Invited To 'Have a Heart' and Create Valentine's Day Cards For The Patients at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital
Special Book Reading by Weston Author, Leah Orr
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, one can hardly escape the heart-shaped symbols that line card aisles, flower shops, and balloon stores. Power Financial Credit Union, known for its great rates and smart banking, has chosen the weekend before Valentine's Day, when hearts are on everyone's mind, to invite children of the community into their headquarters branch, to "Have a Heart" and create a card for the kids at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.
As part of the "Have a Heart" festivities, Weston author, Leah Orr, will be on hand to read her latest children's book, Kyle's First Playdate, which is part of a series that follows a sweet young couple through their school days and playdates. The beautiful girl featured in the story, Ashley Elizabeth, is not a fictional character -- it's Orr's daughter, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) prior to birth.
The Valentine's Day cards, created by the children attending the reading event, will be delivered to the children at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital on February 13 by Orr, along with Power Financial CEO, Allan Prindle and the Credit Union's favorite furry mascot, Rocky the Raccoon. In addition to the cards, Power Financial Credit Union will also be donating copies of Orr's books to the Hospital following a special reading to the patients.
