Weston Christian Academy's Winter Wonderland Festival Kicks Off Holiday Season!

October 27, 2007 - (Weston, FL) There may be no snow in Weston but you can count on Weston Christian Academy's Winter Wonderland Festival to kick-off the holiday spirit in your family this season. After ten years of fun and successful fall festivals, WCA has decided to host this winter wonderland event on Friday, December 5th at Weston Town Center's Linear Park.

Designed to bring together friends, families, and treasured visitors, the Winter Wonderland Festival will be chock-full of fun and entertainment sure to please everyone in attendance. The event will include light displays, food and concessions, face painting, rock climbing, an old-fashioned Cake Walk, live entertainment on stage, and state of the art amusement rides. WCA has typically held its annual festival event on the grounds of First Baptist Church at Weston but is unable to do so this year due to construction on building expansion plans already underway.

"The festival has become a yearly tradition for us so we had to find an alternative," comments Kerry Neysmith, WCA parent and Parent Teacher Fellowship President. "Weston Town Center's Linear Park is a great venue for the festival since we believe it will attract an even greater number of Weston families. We understand these may be difficult times for many of us but also trust that this event will be a great way to open the Holiday season and raise spirits."

The WCA Winter Wonderland Festival will include low intensity rides like the trackless train, a two-story funhouse, and bounce houses plus a number of the more thrilling amusements like the Bungee Jump, Spin & Shout, the Gladiator Joust - where kids try to knock each other off stands with a cushion joust - a giant slide, and the Thunder Force obstacle course for the older kids. Children of all ages can test their skill or make a craft at several festival booths sponsored by each of the school's classrooms. Adults and kids can enjoy a chance to win one of the dozens of cakes and goodies offered at the Cake Walk Contest - traditionally one of the most popular attractions.

"We look forward to giving the community of Weston and the surrounding areas a reason to celebrate a special time of year," noted Julia Elliott, Administrator of Weston Christian Academy. "We're glad that we are able to fill a need in the community for events that bring family and friends together."

"Outside of the hectic world we live in, our goal is to have kids and parents enjoy a hometown festival without worry and stress," said Gisela Fernandez, WCA 2008 Winter Wonderland Festival Committee Chair. "We're planning to have a safe event with a wide array of amusement rides to please kids of every age, lots of food, and our not-to-be-missed Cake Walk." Festival goers can also enjoy grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, as well as other fall festival foods and concessions including cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones.

Wristbands for unlimited access to the rides will be sold in advance at a discounted $15. Three or more wristbands are offered at a discount. Children three and under are free. At the end of the evening all wristbands can be exchanged for a free, seasonal treat available at the exit. Sponsorships are available for amusement rides. Each sponsor receives Winter Wonderland Festival recognition with prominent signage placed at the ride entrance.

So if you see a wintery mascot on the town's street corners and wonder what it is all about, you will know that it is time to celebrate the season and head to a traditional winter festival!

The Weston Christian Academy Winter Wonderland Festival will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Weston Town Center's Linear Park. Wristbands are available for purchase in advance at WCA or at The Truth Shop, 4448 Weston Road, at the Office Depot Plaza near Griffin Road, Weston.
