Indian Trace Elementary

Our History in Weston

What makes Indian Trace Elementary School unique is the depth of commitment by the entire “Tracer Family” to establish a nurturing and high option learning environment, enabling all students to meet the challenges of a changing world. Our collaborative efforts promote academic excellence, fostering the high expectations we have for our students and ourselves. We strive to instill in all the students social skills and values which will enable them to function as responsible citizens in a democratic society.

Located on ten acres on the edge of the Florida Everglades, Indian Trace’s physical campus is wheel-shaped with the media center at its hub, and six buildings emanating from it that house classes, administrative offices, cafeteria, art, music, computer lab, and a science lab. A physical education area and field, adjacent to a community park, complement the school grounds. Additional portable classrooms dot the landscape to comfortably accommodate our increasing student population. The school facility opened its doors during the fall of 1991. We average 1200 annually with a peak of 1499 students. Our community is a growing one, containing students of varied economic backgrounds, from those eligible for free and reduced lunches to students from upper socioeconomic families. The school enjoys multicultural diversity enhanced by serving as a county ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) center which affords unique opportunities and fosters networking.

Watch how the seeds of love and learning are planted into the minds and souls of future information gatherers, analyzers and organizers. Observe how the seedlings blossom into a faculty, staff, student, parent, and community partnership. Reap the rewards with us as a globally aware and sensitive generation is nurtured, imbued with the spirit of preservation, empowered as positive agents for change in their community, and educated in the means to achieve it.
